Responsibilities
- Storage & SAN
- Implement, operate, and troubleshoot enterprise storage (e.g., Dell PowerStore/PowerVault/Unity, HPE, Huawei) and SAN switching (zoning, multipathing, performance, resiliency).
- Plan storage capacity, performance baselines, lifecycle/firmware, and DR replication requirements.
- Virtualization & HCI
- Deploy and administer VMware environments (vCenter, clusters, VM lifecycle, availability and performance tuning), plus HCI stacks (VxRail, Nutanix) and other hypervisors (Hyper-V, Proxmox, OLVM) and virtualization on container platforms where applicable.
- Linux administration
- Administer and standardize Red Hat, Ubuntu, SUSE, and Oracle Linux in production.
- Build and operate core Linux platform services including:
- Satellite / lifecycle & patch management
- Identity (IdM)
- High availability (clustering/failover patterns)
- Enforce hardening, patch cadence, and configuration consistency using automation-driven methods. (Satellite is commonly used for systematic content delivery and patching at scale.)
- Backup & recovery platforms
- Design and operate backup/restore and DR workflows using Veritas, Veeam, Acronis, and Avamar.
- Run regular restore testing, ransomware-resilient backup practices, retention policies, and backup performance tuning.
- Microsoft / Windows Server platforms
- Operate core Microsoft services including Exchange, SCCM, SCOM, and Microsoft 365 administration tasks (including Exchange admin center responsibilities).
- Database platform
- Provide infrastructure-side support for database platforms (capacity, IO patterns, backups, HA/DR, monitoring), and collaborate with DBAs/app teams for performance and availability.
- Automation
- Create operational automation using Bash and Ansible (build, patch, config enforcement, reporting), and maintain reusable runbooks/playbooks.
- Containers
- Support container platforms and operations (images, registries, storage/networking integration, observability), and work with teams running workloads on OpenShift and similar stacks.
- Operational excellence
Produce and maintain documentation (HLD/LLD, SOPs, runbooks), implement monitoring/alerting, lead incident troubleshooting (including RCA), and participate in on-call rotations. (This aligns with NICE systems administration responsibilities around operating and maintaining systems.)
Qualifications
Required experience & qualifications
- 7+ years (typical) in enterprise infrastructure operations across storage + virtualization + Linux/Windows.
- Proven delivery in production environments with high availability and strict change control.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across compute/storage/network layers and vendor escalation experience.
Certifications are preferred (examples: VMware VCP, RHCSA/RHCE, Nutanix, Microsoft)
